Sky Box - What More Can It Do

The digital satellite ‚ receivers everyone in the uk and ireland are ‚ most familiar with are the sky digibox and the freesat receivers.Sky receivers are not suitable if you are serious about receiving other satellites, some freesat receivers ‚ are capable of receiving other satellites in non freesat mode

A sky box is a digital satellite receiver with drawbacks, so if you are serious about receiving channels from other satellites i would strongly advise that you purchase a free to air digital receiver, by this i mean a non sky, non freesat, non canal plus, e.t.c, digital receiver.

A sky receiver is so limited in what it can do regarding reception of other satellites, but it is possible to receive other satellite on a sky digibox, but you are limited in 3 ways.

1) the sky box will only store a maximum of 50 channels in its other channels section

2) the sky box ‚ will only allow trasnsponders with a symbol rate of ‚ 22.000 or 27.500 (meaning you will not be able to store some channels, although most of the main channels ‚ of interest use these symbol rates)

3) sky boxes dont support diseqc switching (this means the box can't switch between 2 different satellite dishes, this needs to be done manually)
